A subtle stuttering effect that occurs most noticeably during pans and other camera movement with 24-frame sources, such as most Hollywood films and many network TV programs. Can be caused by the native 24-frame rate of film itself, where the stuttering is relatively smooth and regular, or by the 2:3 pull-down conversion process used to convert film to video, where the stuttering is more jerky and irregular.
