    "Terrible Reliability"

by blancpain on June 11, 2008

    Pros: Wonderful picture--when it worked

Cons: Failed after 1.5 weeks; warranty follow through appalling

Summary: This set had a marvelous picture for 1.5 weeks. Then it froze up and worked no further. Samsung warranty service is a joke--endless procedures, no action, no follow through. I will make a point of avoiding their products from now on. All electronic products are subject to occasional defects--that can be minimized but not eliminated.

However, great service is entirely controlable. Samsung clearly is running this on the cheap. When an HP server failed, HP shipped a new frame the next day. Samsung's warranty performance is the worst I have ever seen.

I agree...I bought a Samsung 50" plasma and have problem after problem. Repair people never show up. Samsung refuses to swap tv for a new one....yet cannot fix the one I have. POOR at best. I will NEVER buy another Samsung anything.

What I don't understand about this review is: Why deal with warranty service after only 1.5 weeks? Why didn't blancpain simply return the TV to the retailer for a refund or exchange? Even if purchased directly from the manufacturer via the web, 1.5 weeks should be within the free return period.

And I have had the opposite experience with Samsung products and service. We have several HP servers, computers, printers, etc in our office and the service is horrible. Customer service is clueless and totally worthless. My 2 samsungs tvs are still working great, one after nearly 2 years and the other for under 1 year. Customer Service was friendly, helpful and solved my problem without issue when I did need them. HP, give me a break! Only Dell and Canon customer service compares with the great service I have received from Samsung.

I don;t know what happen here, but in the past I had a samsung 22 inch lcd go bad and half the pixels where gone , Samsung sent me a replacement in a few days . All I had to do was drop the old one off at UPS. Customer Support was effortless and easy.

I rely on reviews buy electronics but rarely make comments of my own. I have noticed of late on nearly everything that up to 50% of posts are that the product or sevice is terrible. It is a fact that people are more likely to complain than complement. Hence, I felt I needed to offer my experience on Samsung Service.

I bought two samsung TV, November 2007 holiday season. The TVs are great to use and have all the features I expected. The 32 inch one began to buzz slightly about six months later after it was on for 30-40 minutes and the buzz was getting louder. I went online and filled out the warranty service request as instructed. I got a call two days later setting an appointment. The service person arrived on time at my home and fixed the TV four months ago. He told my that about 10% of the units had this defective part, which he brought with him. The service man was courteous and very professional. Now I live in NJ, so perhaps service varies by region.

I got this same TV and I ponied up the extra 250 bucks to ensure that if anything thing went wrong I would have just wasted 1699. I know on somethings, the warranty is a joke, but on a large purchase, you might want to consider the in-store warranty. Samsung maked really good TV's, dont get discouraged about thier products. It seems to me that you need to be a little more agressive when talking to Samsung about fixing your TV. If it jus quit working, that definitly falls under thier 1 year warranty. Sorry about your luck, and good luck with the TV

Are you kidding me!!!! HP customer is absolutely the worst. I just bought a HDX18T ($2200) laptop, and I went from Canada to India to the Philipines after two plus hours on the phone to find out why my computer didn't have bluetooth installed. I can't imaging they have different service standards for PC server. HP is a JOKE!
I just ordered my Samsung LCD LN46A650, hopefully I don't have to deal with their cs.

No excuse whatsoever for poor customer service.

Because of this review, I did not choose to buy the Samsung that I was prepared to buy, based on tech/spec reviews.

Samsungs Cust Svce sucks!!!If you ever have a problem..you bought from the wrong company.I called with a problem & was not helped but put on hold for 10 mins then transferred to the small appliance dept! Its a Tv guys!I called back and asked questions from another rep who really didnt want to admit to the problem but only half heartedly in the end. I called back only to be told by a supervisor that it was the retailers problem. I told her not to dump a technical writing problem on a retailer.Next I found other horror stories online & called their executive customer service at 800-522-7341...she too was full of apologies about my treatment & then hung up! What is wrong with a company who doesnt address a cutomer problem. This company is not on the stock exchange only on the Korean exchange. Some of their executives have been arrested for fraud!Researching Samsung online they have alot of Technical problems with alot of their products...They want your money but dont want to solve their screw-ups!Next time i will buy another brand.NO Where in the manual do they address the screen cleaning.Only on a dinky bag around a cloth.Does H2O not mean water.Does a picture showing a spritz on a cloth in a hand mean NOT to use a spritz of water.I did this & now there is a permanent smudge across my screen & Samsung said they heard of it happening & their screens are extremely sensitive so why dont they put it in their instructional manual & now say its the retailer problem they are supposed to give out those instructions.Bull Sheets!
