    "Don't Buy VIZIO! PLEASE READ!"

by BENNMONT on February 26, 2009

Pros: When it works it's a good picture.

Cons: It broke after 7 months! Customer service is laughable. It is worth the money to buy another brand.

Summary: We bought a Vizio at the end of June and after 7 months the TV broke, we could still get sound but no picture. After reading this post, this seems like a pretty common problem. It was still under warranty so we called VIZIO to get it repaired/replaced. After waiting two weeks they sent out two technicians from a company they contract with. Near the end of his repair he noted that he did not think the repair was working. Unfortunately as he was finishing up, the screen on the TV cracked. We were told we would get a new TV. I think there was some dispute as to who would replace it at first. After learning that our tech would have to replace it out of his own pocket we tried to get VIZIO to replace the TV under warranty because it was already broken when the tech got here. However, they claimed it was no longer under warranty as the screen was cracked even though it was the tech THEY SENT out that broke it! Our tech doesn't even have good enough credit to get a credit card!! The customer service center people were so unhelpful. The first person I talked to was incredibly rude. When trying to explain our case, she came back and said "I'm pretty sure I can read your case on my own." After somehow getting "disconnected" from them I had to call back. I explained to them how disappointed I was that after paying nearly $800 my TV would break in 7 months- their comment was that it is still new technology and that if I wanted a TV to last 50 years I should have bought a tube!! Who says that?!?! I explained that 50 years was not what I was going for and I thought at least I could get a year out of it. They said I could leave a message for a manager "Andrew" and after doing so I did not receive a return phone call. Absolutely do not buy a VIZIO! We are now waiting for the TV that our tech had to order, we're told it could be another two weeks before it arrives.
