"Perfect!!!"
Pros: HUGE, high resolution, PIP, all the inputs you could want, portrait/landscape rotation, OPTIONAL stretching of lower resolutions
Cons: Absolutely none.
Summary: I bought this monitor for $860 shortly after it came out and after having used it for a couple of months, I have to say that this is the most satisfying computer/electronics purchase I've every made. There are no dead pixel or backlight problems. The monitor is solidly built as is the highly-adjustable stand that it comes with. The color and picture quality are superb for desktop applications. This is immediately apparent when I walk into the Apple store. Where I once stood in awe of the Apple 30" I now think it looks dull and lacking in contrast in comparison to this monitor. Much of the same can be said about every other LCD I've seen since owning this one, including the Dell 2005fpw, which I upgraded from. I do a bit of gaming too and I must say that this is as good as any nice CRT I've played on. There's no picture lag that I can see and the monitor is great in that it lets you choose how you want to scale lower resolutions rather than just stretching them to full screen like so many other brands of LCDs do. So if I'm playing a FPS at 1280x1024 to get higher frame rates, I can leave the picture sharp and unstretched in the center of the display rather than have to deal with the usual graniness that acompanies using lower resolutions on an LCD. I have to say though, that even unstretched the picture at 1280x768 is very useable at about 17". Likewise, games that don't support widescreen can simply be played at 1600x1200 with two black strips on the sides and no funky stretching of the picture. The bottom line is that there are simply no compromises that need to be made with this monitor. Whether your gaming, working, or surfing the web, you will not regret getting one of these babies.

I don't believe that this DELL LCD has a Image quality of a CRT. I have a samsung 21 Mon.. CRT and it has 20 inch viewing with a refresh rate of 150+ at screen size 2048x1536. Well my point is that when it comes to games LCD has a ghostly look to it and the characters of the game like Call Of Duty you will see a ghost shadow like character following the people running around and its very annoying and noticeable. My friend bought a dell 19inch which at the time one year ago it was top of the line and i seen this is his wide screen dell 19.Also noticeable with that Mon.. is that you can see the dot pitch which makes the picture more ugly and im sure the DELL 24 inch LCD is going to look know different. LCD are a joke and i don't think they will ever get as good as A CRT for gaming or any type of graphics. My monitor image quality still amazes me to this day. SAM SUNG Sync master 1100DF and the DOT pitch is perfect and you can not see any black dots in it like a LCD. Its been compare to some Sony's 2,500$ MOn...and said to be the same image quality but then again Sony is only out there to rip people off not give them quality.

I'm using Radeon 850XT PE it cost me $400 (as of August 23, 2005) toghether with this monitor is a killer. Games are ultra sharp (DOD) and fast, with 1600/1200 you can play full screen.

I want to use it primarily at 1920 x 1200 for Photoshop CS editing of images. What card are you using and are you using it at max res? Thanks.

hey, great review. Got one big question though, I'm looking to buy this myself and it is very hard (for me anyway) to find this for under $1200. Where in the world did you find it for $860?!!!! Please clue the rest of us in...and soon!!
ok, so two questions really: #2 I noticed nobody posts this info: what is the actual height and width of the screen. Since it is a different aspect ratio than a regular 4:3 I can't really envision the size of the height and width from the 24" diagonal measurement (since its obviously a smaller angle than regular 4:3 ratio VIS measurement).
thanks
