"Not Good for Audio Book Downloads"
Pros: Cheap, small, great sound
Cons: Problems with large audio book tracks
Summary: I've had this for a month and love it for books that I rip from CDs. I use it several hours a days while working out, driving, walking, etc. However, I often download books from public library sites and it doesn't work so well with them. On long book tracks (45-75 minutes), it won't start up where you turn it off. It displays the correct location (minutes:seconds) but always plays from the beginning of the track. It then won't fast forward for more than 10 minutes of a track before skiping to the next track. Seems like a software bug but Sansa support says "it doesn't bookmark files". Huh? it sure seems like it's trying to. If this function worked I'd give it a 10 but have to say 5 for now for audio book listeners.Updated
Sansa upgraded the software and I've been using it for audio downloads for three months without a problem. They also fixed the problems with fastfowarding and remembering its location when turned off. A perfect player for audiobooks at a great price.

- You can exercise in the gym or do other activities and listen to a book at the same time.
- Listening to a book is a nice way to wind down before bed, while reading a book, watching tv, on a PC, and anything where you're subject to a light source will affect your sleeping pattern/bio clock
- Yes, you're stuck with the narrator's interpretation (especially one's male narrator who does a terrible female voice, and vice versa ) but it's sacrifice, and not such a big one if you're not THAT into the book (Harry Potter, anyone? :-D) -
I'm just wondering why you don't actually READ books, instead of listening to them?
Don't get me wrong, II love reading books. I just finished two 800 page novels today, actually (and only saw 3 editing mistakes that were obvious), and half of another book that was twice as lengthy. Yeah I read fast.
I would think you'd lose value from someone else reading the story to you, even it was the author himself narrating.
I do realize that our history is full of stories passed down through the ages, but that is probably the reason why people fight over religion, since there are so many different stories about it. ;)
Audio books seem like something that should be used by blind people to enrich their lives, not someone working out at a gymnasium. Use your mp3 player for what it's intended for... MUSIC!
If your eyes still work then by all means read the book, and let your imagination work without outside interference.
